What is the Tabs screen?

The Tabs screen is used to organize and divide content into separate sections on the screen. They allow learners to easily navigate between different sections of content without having to go to another page. As they navigate through a section, it is marked as complete with a progress marker.

When to use the Tabs screen

The Tabs screen can be used to display different types of information such as text, images, videos, and interactive elements. It provides a great way to:

  • Introduce new concepts and processes

  • Highlight categories of information within a topic

  • Using conceptually linked images to enhance the learners' ability to easily digest and memorize information.

How to use the Tabs screen

Step 1: To get started, add a new Lesson to your Course, or navigate to an existing one. Click the ‘Add screen’ button in the Lesson on the course sidebar menu.

Step 2: Select ‘Tabs’ from the screen select drawer under the ‘Interactive screens’ section.

Step 3: Give your screen a title and click the ‘Add screen’ button to confirm.

Step 4: Your new screen will appear with the screen title, an empty description field, and a single tab item labeled ‘Untitled’.

Display options

By default, the empty tab heading is configured to display an image. You can change this to display with a label and an image, or as a label only.

How to add an image

To add an image, hover over the image container to reveal a context menu. From the menu, select, ‘Add an image’.

Adding extra tabs

You can add as many tabs as you like. Learners won’t have any trouble finding hidden tabs, as the next one is always visible

To add more tabs, click the ‘Add item’ button from the screen options toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

Add an additional image with SmartLayout™

The Tabs screen provides users the option of adding an additional image. SmartLayout™ gives you more control over how the content on each tab is presented by giving you the ability to drag columns to the left or right, making images larger, or even setting them as a background.

Screen switching

The Tabs screen can be switched with the following screen types:

To switch between screen types, click the screen title at the top of the screen editor and select the screen type you want to switch to. Once switched, your content will fit seamlessly into the chosen screen.
