What is the Timeline screen?
The Timeline screen allows you to display content as a series of items displayed in chronological order. Items are grouped together in sections and can be supported with images and descriptions.
When to use the Timeline screen
The Timeline screen can be used for a number of scenarios; here are just a few:
Illustrate your project timeline and what should happen at each stage of the journey. Use images and text to get your message across.
Display your company's history and important milestones
Not-for-profits and startups often rely on fundraising or investment funding to keep their teams running. Map out key goal stages in a funding journey.
List key points or steps.
How to use the Timeline screen
Step 1: To get started, add a new Lesson to your Course, or navigate to an existing one. Click the ‘Add screen’ button in the lesson on the course sidebar menu.
Step 2: Select ‘Timeline’ from the screen select drawer under the ‘Interactive screens’ section.
Step 4: Give your screen a title and click the ‘Add screen’ button to confirm.
By default, your screen will appear with a ‘Section title’ and an ‘Untitled’ Item.
Sections are perfect for displaying an extended time period e.g. a Year or a Century. Items that appear under each section represent a smaller time period, e.g. a Month, or a Decade.
For each item, you will need to add a title and description. Images are recommended but are optional. If you don’t want to use an image for an item, click the context menu above the item title and select the ‘Text only’ option.
To add an additional item within a section, click the plus button underneath the current item, or click the ‘Add item’ button from the screen options menu at the bottom of the screen.
To add a new section, click the ‘New section’ button displayed at the bottom of the timeline.

You can add images at any size or ratio and it will automatically fit to the container. If you want to show the entire image, toggle the image fit option. If you want to make the image take up more space on the card, you can drag the image container downwards to make it taller.
Section and item colors
The Timeline screen uses SmartColor™ to automatically pick a different color for each individual item based on your primary workspace color.
If you don't want to use SmartColor™ at all, don’t worry, you can change each individual item color to be whatever you like.

The Timeline screen can be switched with the following screen types:
To switch between screen types, click the screen title at the top of the screen editor and select the screen type you want to switch to. Once switched, your content will fit seamlessly into the chosen screen.
