The Quiz module allows you to design a formal assessment using different question types to test, challenge, and ensure your learners are mastering your training.

A Quiz is a standalone module, and shouldn't be confused with the Pop quiz screen, which sits inside a Lesson module. A Quiz does not sit inside a Lesson module.

The Quiz module features 11 different quiz question types to accommodate your testing needs.

Quizzes are automatically graded by the platform, but you do have the ability to manually mark or issue re-attempts to your learners.

You can also create an answer pool to pull potential answers from should your learners need to retake a Quiz so that they are presented with a new set of potential answers. Note: This is a pool of answers only. Coassemble does not have the ability to create question banks/pools.

If you've used the Pop quiz screen in the Lesson module, you may be wondering what the quiz module is all about... Although the Quiz module may appear identical to the Pop quiz screen for lessons, it has one distinct difference in that it is a summative assessment, whereas the Pop quiz screen acts as a formative assessment.

In Coassemble, a Pop quiz is the best choice for a formative assessment, as it acts as an indicator to your learners as to how they are doing as they navigate through the course material. It's more like a practice quiz that helps to reinforce knowledge as they progress through a Course. This is because learners can have as many attempts at a question as they need in order to complete the Pop quiz screen, and it does not record or report a formal grade against the learner.

A Quiz or Assignment acts as a summative assessment in Coassemble, as these evaluate how much your learners have understood from the Course. The Quiz is a more formal assessment that is graded, and can determine whether or not the learner passes the Course.

You should include a Quiz module in your course when you need to formally assess your learner’s performance. Quizzes serve as a summative assessment that records a score to help determine their performance against your set learning objectives.

Quiz modules are great to add at the end of a course, or a series of courses to test for comprehension of a lesson, video, or other learning content previously covered in your course. You can position one final Quiz at the end of your course or after each lesson/content module to test on particular content. You may also opt for a well-designed Quiz over an Assignment if you have limited time to grade Assignments; Quizzes are auto-marked, whereas Assignments require human input to grade them.

Coassemble’s reports provide a breakdown of your learner's results/attempts, how much time was spent completing the Quiz and individual questions, and a detailed summary of which questions are most frequently answered incorrectly by your cohort of users.

Learners are presented with a series of questions that they must answer one by one. They will not know whether they have gotten a question right or wrong until the end of the assessment. They will not receive individualized feedback on why they got a question right or wrong. How you configure your Quiz will determine whether they can retake it or if it is required to pass a Course.
