How do I configure a Quiz?

Made a Quiz but not sure what each setting does or where to find them? This article will guide you through the Quiz configuration page.

This article will guide you to the settings page for your Quiz and explain what each setting can do. 

Quiz settings can be configured from the side navigation bar inside your course. Select the three dots on your Quiz module.


Available settings

Quiz Attempt Settings

Number of attempts allowed
This allows you to grant unlimited attempts at the Quiz or limit the learner to a specific number of attempts.

What to do on reattempting the Quiz

  • Show only questions marked "incorrect" on previous attempt: Selecting this option will only show questions marked as incorrect from their re-attempt. They will not see any questions marked as correct from the previous re-attempt

  • Show correct responses from previous attempt: Selecting this option will display questions that were marked as correct on their re-attempt and also have the correct answer pre-selected.

Quiz Grading and Results Settings

Passing grade required for completion
If you select this option, the learner will be required to reach the pass threshold before being able to move on to the next module.

Passing grade

This setting allows you to determine the percentage of the Quiz the learner will need to correctly answer before it can be graded as a pass. Any score that does not reach this threshold will be graded as a fail.

Determine Grade From
Selecting 'Highest Grade' will require the learner to answer questions based off of their current highest graded attempt from a previous attempt. Selecting 'Latest attempt' will require the learner to answer questions based off of their most recent attempt.

If the learner fails their last attempt allow them to complete the Quiz without passing
Selecting this option will allow the learner to move to the next module in a course if they were unable to attain a passing grade.

Grade Quiz according to correct answers to

  • Parts of questions: The learner will be graded on each individual answer they select within a Quiz question. Example: True/false(Multiple)

  • Whole questions: The learner will be graded on each question as a whole.

Hide details of result
If this option is selected, the learner will not be shown their results after completing the Quiz.
