What is the Cover screen?

The Cover screen was designed specifically for introducing a new theme, topic, or idea within a Lesson. It can be used at the start, the end, or anywhere in between!

The Cover screen stands out from other Lesson screens in that it’s the only screen that allows you to add a full-screen background image or colored background, display a time estimate, or a button to direct learners to get started.

Use cases

There are many reasons to use the Cover screen, here are just a few..

  • To introduce the lesson, or topic within a lesson.

  • To show progress — Congratulate a learner on their progress so far

  • To illustrate a point — make it loud and clear, don’t let your learners miss the point that you are making!

  • At the end of the course — Congratulate your learners when they complete a course.

How to use the Cover screen

To get started, add a new Lesson to your Course, or navigate to an existing one. Click the 'Add screen' in the lesson on the course sidebar menu.

Select ‘Cover screen’ from the screen select drawer.

Give your screen a title and click the ‘Add screen’ button to confirm.

By default, your new screen will include the screen title, a time estimate field, description field, a button, and an image placeholder.

Page elements

Every element, except for the screen title can be hidden. To hide these elements click the display options button icon and toggle them off.

To hide the image, select the layout options button, and choose the ‘No image’ option.

Time estimate

Give your learners an idea of how long this section could take to complete.

Description

An optional field for displaying additional information.

Button

Display a button with customizable text and navigation options. You can have your button navigate to the next screen (default), a custom URL, or another module in your course.

Alignment options

Align text left, right, or centered. Use additional image options to align images to the left, right, or as a background image. Use animated gifs as a background image to create spectacular layouts that will delight your learners.
