What is the Slideshow screen?

The Slideshow screen allows you to showcase a series of photos, or other visual material accompanied by a title and description.

Learners move through the images by clicking or tapping the edges of the next image. They can display each image in full screen by clicking them.

The ability to navigate through a slideshow can provide a more dynamic and engaging experience for your learners than displaying a single image at a time.

Note: You can force learners to view each photo by ensuring that you’re using progress markers.

When should you use the Slideshow screen?

The Slideshow screen can be used for a variety of purposes, including:

  • Displaying a sequence of images as part of a presentation or lecture

  • Showcasing a gallery of product images or services

  • Creating a visual story or narrative through a sequence of images

  • Presenting a collection of photographs, such as a portfolio of work.

How do you use the Slideshow screen?

Step 1: To get started, add a new Lesson to your Course, or navigate to an existing one. Click the ‘Add screen’ button in the lesson on the course sidebar menu.

Step 2: Select ‘Slideshow’ from the screen select drawer.

Step 3: Give your screen a title and click the ‘Add screen’ button to confirm.

Step 4: By default, your new screen will display the screen title, an empty description field and image container. To add your first image, click the container, or drag an image onto it.

Step 5: This will bring up the image uploader which will suggest a range of images related to the title of your screen. You can search for images on Unsplash or Giphy. To upload an image from your desktop, click or drag your image onto the marquee area.

Step 6: Once you’ve added an image, it will appear in the container. There is no need to crop the image as it will automatically fit itself into the dedicated area. If you want it to take up the entire space, use the ‘Fill’ option by hovering over the image.

Step 7: To add a new image slide, click the ‘Add slide’ button, or move your cursor to the left or right of the current image to add one before or after it

Screen options toolbar

The screen options toolbar sits at the bottom of the screen editor, and is common to all screen types in Coassemble.

Common options available on the Slideshow screen include:

  • Reorder the order of the slides from the screen

  • Change the navigation indicator color with SmartColor™

  • Advanced settings for accessing the Instructor's Tip

  • Delete and duplicate options for duplicating or removing the current slide

  • Visibility options to hide the title and description underneath the slideshow images.
