What is the Hotspot screen?
The Hotspot screen is an interactive screen that allows you to showcase an image overlaid with one or more "hotspots", which are clickable or touch-sensitive areas that, when clicked or tapped, reveal additional information.
The Hotspot screen creates an interactive and engaging learning experience and can be used to present information in a non-linear, exploratory format.
When to use the Hotspot screen
The Hotspot screen is perfect to showcase features or add more context to a visual presentation. Here are some ways you can use the hotspot screen:
Product details
Include an image of your product and use the hotspot to highlight key features or functionality.
Store floor plan
Highlight to your team or customers what specials are on in each section of the store, new products that are available, or simply what they can find in each area.
Location information
Tourism marketers can use this to highlight key location information on a map.
WH&S Issues
Use the hotspot template to point out possible hazards or issues and explain them in more detail.
Visual merchandising
Show your team how you want your visual merchandising to appear. This will help to gain consistency across multiple sites.
Food & beverage presentation
Hospitality teams can show how they would like food or drinks presented. This will make sure all customers get a consistent experience.
How to use the Hotspot screen
Step 1: To get started, add a new Lesson to your Course, or navigate to an existing one. Click the ‘Add screen’ button in the Lesson on the Course sidebar menu.
Step 2: Select ‘Hotspot’ from the screen select drawer under the ‘Interactive screens’ section.
Step 3: Give your screen a title and click the ‘Add screen’ button to confirm.
Step 4: Your new screen will appear with the screen title, an empty description field, and an empty image container.
To add the Hotspot image, click the empty image container, or drag and drop your image onto it. Although you can add an image of any size, we recommend you add an image in landscape format so that your learners don’t have to scroll to find the hotspots.
Step 5: Once you’ve added your image, you can start adding your hotspots. Click the ‘Add item’ button from the options menu at the bottom right of the screen. Clicking the button transforms your cursor into a hotspot that you can move into the desired location on your image. Click the location to set the position.
You can now start adding the content into the hotspot text container. Just click the title to change it from ‘Untitled’. To add a description, click into the description field.
Screen options
There are several options available for the Hotspot screen including:
Background color, which is useful when using a transparent image
Hotspot icons: Switch from a plus symbol to a sequential number
SmartColor™ Scheme: each hotspot will automatically be allocated a color based on your Workspace theme. Alternatively, you can change the colors individually.
Screen switching
The Hotspot screen can be seamlessly switched with the Spot the mistake screen, transforming your hotspots into hidden spots which are revealed when found.
