What is the Wheel screen?

The Wheel screen provides a unique way for learners to navigate through a large amount of information in a fun and engaging way. Learners navigate through topics by clicking on the slices within the wheel. Detailed information appears in a panel connected to the wheel. Believe it or not, the Wheel screen looks amazing on mobile devices.

When to use the Wheel screen

The Wheel screen can be used to:

  • Transform extended lists like a glossary, policies, ideas, and concepts

  • Outline brand values

  • Set out tasks in more detail

  • Detail roles in a business.

How to use the Wheel screen

Step 1: To get started, add a new Lesson to your Course, or navigate to an existing one. Click the ‘Add screen’ button in the Lesson on the Course sidebar menu.

Step 2: Select ‘Wheel’ from the screen select drawer under the ‘Interactive screens’ section.

Step 3: Give your screen a title and click the ‘Add screen’ button to confirm.

Step 4: By default, the wheel will start with 4 slices, all titled ‘Untitled’. You can add up to 16 slices to your wheel, but you cannot have less than 3.

To change the title of a slice, click into it and start typing. To add a description, click into the empty description box.

To add additional slices, you can either click the + symbol in the center of the wheel, or click the ‘Add item’ button from the screen options menu at the bottom of the screen.

Wheel colors

The Wheel screen uses Coassembles’ SmartColor™ feature to automatically pick a different color for each individual slice based on your primary Workspace color. This means your wheel will always look good!

If you don't want your colors picked for you, then don't worry, you can choose to make your wheel slices whatever color you like.

Screen switching

The Wheel screen can be switched with the following screen types:

  • Accordion

  • Springy List

  • Word circle

To switch between screen types, click the screen title at the top of the screen editor and select the screen type you want to switch to. Once switched, your content will fit seamlessly into the chosen screen.
