When creating courses in Coassemble, there are 3 options you can choose from.

  1. Transform a document

  2. Generate using a prompt

  3. Start from scratch

This article covers the 'Generate using a prompt' method.

What can I expect from my course generated with AI?

Coassemble makes it easy to create a structured, engaging course from a simple prompt. Whether you have a topic in mind or a specific learning outcome you want to achieve, our AI Assistant will help you bring your ideas to life in just a few simple steps.

Microcourses generated with our AI Assistant will be fun, bite-sized learning experiences. Our AI Assistant works with the aim to create an easily digestible course that won’t overwhelm your learners.

Step 1: Select “Generate using a prompt”

To create a microcourse, you will need to have created a course. On your dashboard, you can create a course with the 'New course' button and once created, use the 'Add module' button and select the ‘Generate a course’ option. This will open the microcourse generation workflow.

Step 2: Enter your prompt

This is where you tell us what your microcourse should be about. The more detail you provide, the better. You can include learning goals, topics to cover, or any other information about the content to be included. When you’re ready, click ‘Submit’ to continue.

Step 3: Identify your audience’s familiarity with the topic

Next, you’ll need to let us know how much your audience already knows about the topic. This helps us shape the content to suit your learners. Choose one of the following:

  • Beginners – This is the first time they are learning about the topic.

  • Intermediate – They know the basics of the subject.

  • Advanced – They are already knowledgeable about the subject.

Step 4: Share information about your audience

Here, you can provide additional context about your audience. This helps us adjust the tone and examples to better match who you’re teaching. Coassemble will suggest a couple of audience types based on your prompt, or you can type your own. This step is optional; if you prefer, you can skip it.

Step 5: Set the language preferences

Our AI Assistant will detect the language you used in your prompt and ask whether you’d like your course to be in that language or a different one. If you choose a different language, you’ll be prompted with a drop-down menu to make your selection.

Step 6: Choose the tone of the course

Decide how you want your course to sound:

  • Informal & Conversational – Casual and friendly tone.

  • Academic & Research-Based – Formal and focused on research.

  • Motivational & Persuasive – Inspiring and encouraging tone.

This tone will be applied throughout your course content.

Step 7: Determine the course length

Select how long you’d like your course to be:

  • 4–6 screens

  • 5–10 screens

  • 10–15 screens

  • More than 20 screens

For courses with more than 20 screens, we’ll advise breaking it into smaller, more manageable microcourses based on best practices in learning design.

Step 8: Generate your microcourse outline

Based on your prompt and preferences, Coassemble will create a course outline. This will include:

  • A list of screens representing your course structure

  • A quiz screen at the end, with questions based on the course content

  • Add or remove screens: You can add new screens by clicking the “+” symbol at the bottom of the course outline. To remove a screen, simply hover over the screen and click the delete icon that appears.

  • Edit screen titles: Each screen in your outline will have a title that represents the content of that section. To change a title, click on the title text and type in your new title.

  • Rearrange screens: If you want to adjust the order of the screens, simply click on a screen and drag it to a new position in the outline.

Once you’ve fine-tuned the outline to your satisfaction, click the Create course button to start the course generation process. Coassemble will generate each screen, one by one, based on the outline you’ve set.

Step 9: Watch your course generate

Sit back and relax while Coassemble brings your course to life—screen by screen, based on the outline you’ve set. You’ll even see relevant images added automatically where appropriate.

Step 10: Edit your course

Once the course has been generated, you can dive in and make any final edits. Modify the content, adjust the design, and fine-tune any elements before publishing your course.
