What is the course Finish screen?
The Finish screen is the last screen your learners interact with when they have completed a course. From this screen, learners get an overview of how they’ve done.
The Finish screen is made up the following elements, of which the first three can be customized within the course builder, or set globally from the Workspaces settings screen:
Icon
Title and description
Certificate
Summary
Detailed analytics
The summary and detailed analytics sections are automatically generated and cannot be customized or hidden. They are a valuable resource for your learners as they allow them to:
Easily see the steps they’ve missed and need to address to complete the Course
Provide quick links to assessment items that require additional attempts (Quizzes and Assignments)
Easily see why they may have not passed/completed a Course i.e. requirements not met.
How to customize the Finish screen
As a Trainer, you can customize each possible finish state that a Learner might be exposed to. Depending on what modules you have in your course, there are 3 possible finish states:
Pass: the learner completes the course and passes
If certificates are issued for the course, they will display on the pass screen.
Fail: the learner finishes the course and fails (only visible if you have a Quiz or Assignment module)
Grading: the learner finishes the Course but is waiting for a trainer to grade an Assignment (only visible if you have an assignment module)
Finish states and the issuing of certificates can be customized globally for every course from the Workspace settings page, or individually for each course on the Finish screen page inside a course.
Configuring finish states globally
To customize the finish states for every course in your Workspace, navigate to the ‘Course finish states’ tab on the Workspace settings page. To access this page, you will need to exit the course builder, and click the settings button in the bottom right corner of the page, just above your profile image.
Once on this page you’ll see the page has three tabs on it that represent each possible finish state; Pass, Fail, and Grading.
Pass
Unique to the Pass section, is the ‘Issue certificates’ setting. Certificates can only be issued to learners if they successfully complete a Course. By default, this will be set to ON in your workspace. If you don’t wish to issue certificates to your learners, toggle this setting to OFF.
You can configure an icon that appears just above the finish state message. By default, it is switched ON, but can be turned OFF simply by clicking the toggle button. You can also change the icon, but make sure it’s something that congratulates your learners for successfully completing the course.
The Title and Message sections both have a default that can be changed. To change them, click into the text inputs and edit them as you like. The message section includes Merge fields which display dynamic content allowing you to place the learner's name and course name into the message.
Lastly, and unique to the Pass state is Confetti. There are three styles to choose from, each of which you can preview from this page. Just select the style you want and click the preview button. Confetti can also be switched OFF.
Once you’ve made your changes, make sure you click the ‘Save changes’ button. To restore back to the Coassemble defaults, click the ‘Restore’ button.
Any changes you make will be reflected in each course that is using this global configuration.
Fail & Grading states
The Fail and Grading states are configured much the same way as the Pass states. The only difference is that the Pass state has the configuration for Certificates and Confetti.
Overriding global finish states
The global finish state can be overridden so that it can display a different message, or certificate configuration for each individual Course.
To override settings for a particular Course, find the Course on the Courses screen and click into it to enter the Course builder. From the sidebar menu, select the Finish screen button. If your course is using the global configuration, click the ‘Override’ button in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. This will unlock the editor for the Finish screen states. From here, you can navigate between, and edit each finish state using the navigation and controls from the screen options toolbar at the bottom of the screen. As you are editing the finish screen inline, there is no need to click a save button, as all changes are auto-saved.
