What is the Accordion screen?

The Accordion screen is Coassemble's take on the classic accordion menu. Accordion menus are used to organize and present a large amount of information in a small amount of space. They allow learners to expand and collapse sections of content, which can help to reduce cognitive load and make it easier to understand the information they are looking for.

They can also be used to hide less important sections of content, while keeping the more important sections visible.

Additionally, accordion menus can be used to create a more hierarchical and structured layout, making it easier for users to understand the organization of the content.

Unique display options allow you to use the Accordion screen to explain acronyms, and display content as ordered & unordered lists. The Accordion screen uses Coassemble's SmartColor™ technology to match your brand theme.

When should you use the Accordion screen?

The Accordion screen is extremely versatile and can be used for many purposes. Here are just a few:

  • Acronyms: Display the words and definitions of commonly used acronyms used in your industry.

  • FAQs: Display frequently asked questions and their answers.

  • Instructions: Display a set of numbered instructions.

  • Organize large amounts of content on the screen, allowing learners to reveal only the information that they are interested in.

How do you use the Accordion screen?

Step 1: To get started, add a new Lesson to your Course, or navigate to an existing one. Click the ‘Add screen’ button in the lesson on the course sidebar menu.

Step 2: Select 'Accordion’ from the screen select drawer.

Step 3: Give your screen a title and click the ‘Add screen’ button to confirm.

Step 4: By default, your new screen will display the screen title, an empty description field, and a single accordion menu item labeled ‘Untitled’.

Clicking the accordion menu item will open it to reveal a description field. You can edit both the title and description for each accordion item. To add another item, click the ‘Add item’ button below the first accordion, or use the button from the options toolbar.

Display options

There are 4 options for displaying the accordion open buttons. They are as follows:

  • Plus (default)

  • Arrows

  • Letter (Acronym)

  • Number.

To adjust the color of these buttons, use the SmartColor™ picker to the right of the options switches.

Screen switching

The Accordion screen can be switched with the following screen types:

  • Springy List

  • Wheel

  • Word circle

To switch between screen types, click the screen title at the top of the screen editor and select the screen type you want to switch to. Once switched, your content will fit seamlessly into the chosen screen.
